Born in 1894 his is an Inspiring story
It's never too late

August Sander and life

I have not yet been hooked up to the 21st century again.
I am thinking internet will be up and running in about a week
so please excuse the lack of posts
I will be back with gusto and have many photos and thoughts on the change
from Brooklyn NY to Rural Ireland
Lots of exciting things going on and I am sure that the move back was the right thing to do

In moments my life went from Subway commute to a walk in the woods
Lots of baking and chutney making
Ordering chickens for the garden
...but don't worry I haven't put down the design brush
I have been busy working on a very exciting new project

In the process of doing some research for this exciting new project I came across
the beautiful works of
and had to post them
please bear with me until regular posting is back up and running

PHOTO SHOOT

It has been a very busy week, what with meeting The Sartorialist, going to The Peter O'Brien for A-Wear fashion show, ( a beautiful final collection, head to A-Wear soon so as not to be dissapointed, The black coat with ruffle detail is a personal favourite, only €200 ) The David La Chapelle exhibition at The Sebastian Guiness Gallery, The Theatre to see The Blue Dragon and doing a new photo shoot! Life is busy with culture. Here is a little taster of the concept for the shoot.

I took inspiration  from 15th and 16th century portraits such as..

Lady with an Ermine by Leonardo Da Vinci

 Laura Battiferri by Bronzino

We shot in the basement of Turbotstown House in Westmeath, big Thank you to Cha cha and Peter.

HELEN JAMES PHOTO SHOOT

This has to be one of my favourite photo shoots I ever did. We shot it in 2004 and I think it looks as beautiful today as the first time I saw it. The collection was based on the paintings of Vermeer and i feel it totally evokes that while remaining modern and fresh.

The model is Julie Flynn from Morgan the agency this was her first ever photo shoot. She since went on to grander things, including a John Rocha ad campaign. She totally captured the innocence and grandeur I was after.

We painted Julie's hands to add an otherworldly and painterly feel. Make up by the talented Tom McInerney . The amazing Sonya Lennon styled the shoot for me, she is now the presenter of the TV show Off The Rails but back when we shot this she was just an amazing stylist whose fresh eye and incredible talent made my pieces look so beautiful.

The final touch was the vision and wonder of photographer David Timmons. It was the first time I worked with him and I hope to do so again real soon.
I truly loved doing this shoot, it was hard work organising it and they can be prohibitively expensive , but this one was worth it all
