Christ Church Cathedral Tiles

The other night I was in Christ Church Cathedral in Dublin at an event
I was struck by the incredible encaustic tiles on the floor
I have been to Christ Church before
but somehow had forgotten the beauty of the tiles
The above geometric patterns were my favourite but the animal representations
 are quite famous and popular
birds

dogs

foxes

I would love to tile my kitchen floor
These tiles are quite costly
but they will last a lifetime, actually longer than a lifetime

Love this patchwork floor from HERE

and this one from HERE

They are also used a lot in hallways

was thinking these more geometric ones from
 Abbergavenny reclamation
for my kitchen floor?

one day !

Axel Geis

I often feel like packing in the world of Fashion ............. I dream of cooking, gardening, painting or travelling, then I will see something and a feeling will overwhelm me and I cannot rest until I have retreated to the studio to begin work on a new dress, jacket, headpiece or whatever it is that bubbling  up inside.
That is how I felt when I saw these images on Nomenus quarterly

There is a subtle elegance and timelessness to them. The ladies look confident and yet somehow also vulnerable.
The colour palettes in these two are sublime

Chanel S/S 2010

photo by Jacky Naegelen/Reuters from New York Times

God Bless You Karl Lagerfeld, in a season where everyone seems to be "cutting back" and "paring down" Mr Lagerfeld creates a show based on Marie Antoinette's Haybarn!
With models cavorting, cajoling and skipping amongst the dust and hay in their finery.
Escapism, fantasy, luxury, playfulness.
Isn't that what we need from fashion in these times
